What are the benefits of tooth-colored dental fillings?

Composite dental fillings offer many benefits to patients who choose to utilize them, including:

  • Custom Shades—The shade of the filling is designed to blend in seamlessly.
  • Long-Lasting—When treated well, composite fillings can last between 10 and 15 years.
  • Preserve Tooth Structure—Don’t require as much of the healthy tooth to be removed.
  • Safer for Teeth—Our fillings are mercury-free, unlike amalgam (silver) fillings.
  • Strengthen Teeth—Tooth-colored fillings strengthen and support the natural tooth.

Is getting a dental filling painful?

At Imperial Christina Dental Care, we strive to make our treatments as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Before a restorative treatment like a dental filling is performed, a local anesthetic is administered to numb the teeth and gums. You may feel some pressure on your teeth, but any pain or discomfort should be reduced or completely eliminated. Our office amenities, like our cozy blankets and pillows, TVs with Netflix access, and movie glasses and headphones can also help take your mind off of your treatment while our team works on your filling.

How do I know if I need a dental filling?

It’s not always obvious to patients when they have a cavity, and it can be even harder to tell if a dental filling or more advanced restorative treatment, like a dental crown, is necessary. The best way to determine if you or your child need a tooth-colored filling is by visiting our office for a dental exam. We can take dental X-rays and assess the physical appearance of the tooth to identify any possible tooth decay. Our office offers same-day treatment post-diagnosis whenever possible, so if a cavity is diagnosed, we may be able to place your tooth-colored filling right away as well.
